Firefighters were called out in the early hours of this morning after a a car was set alight in an arson attack in Sheffield.

The Volkswagen Golf was set alight in Stanwell Avenue, Wincobank, at around 2.30am.

Crews also dealt with a pile of rubbish set alight on an allotment in Sheffield Road, Birdwell, Barnsley and a skip torched in Pitt Street, Mexborough, Doncaster.

A car believed to be a Peugeot 206 was set alight in Aldham House Lane, Wombwell, Barnsley and another car, which was too badly damaged to determine the make or model, was torched in Howell Lane, Great Houghton, Barnsley.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
