Arrest and witnesses sought following death of man found unconscious outside Barnsley pub

A police investigation has been launched following the death of a man found lying unconscious outside a South Yorkshire pub.

The 52-year-old was discovered outside the Spencers Arms on Church Street in Cawthorne, Barnsley, at around 10pm on Friday, and died last night in hospital.

A post-mortem examination on the man’s body proved inconclusive. Toxicology tests are yet to be completed.

People who may have driven or walked past the pub between 9.50pm and 10.15pm on Friday are being urged to come forward.

A man aged 57 has been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

Police said they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the death.
