Armed raid at betting shop

A TERRIFIED South Yorkshire betting shop manageress was robbed of cash by two masked thugs brandishing a sawn-off shotgun and a knife.

The men, whose faces were both covered by balaclavas, burst into the Coral betting shop on Garden Street in Darfield, Barnsley.

The robber with the gun threatened the only customer inside the shop, while the knifeman brandished the blade at the female manager behind the counter.

Both raiders shouted at her to give them the day’s takings, and the terrified woman handed over around 700 in notes and coins.

The two thugs then fled outside, jumped into a silver BMW car, and sped off towards Saltersbrook Road. Both robbers were slim and spoke with local accents. One was around 6ft tall and the other 6ft 2ins.
