Have your say

Armed police have been called out to a Sheffield road this evening after reports of weapons being seen in the area.

Several police cars including an armed response unit were called to Fox Hill Road, Birley Carr, tonight.

It is not yet known if the reports of weapons in the area were correct or whether it was a false alarm, but a strong police presence has been in the area.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed it has been in attendance.

UPDATE: One man has been arrested tonight, police have confirmed, although the force was not able to tell The Star what he was arrested on suspicion of.

A spokesman said the incident ‘is still ongoing’.
