Another man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Sheffield.

The 26-year-old was arrested in a police operation in Hoyland town centre, Barnsley, yesterday afternoon.

Reports suggest that the man was arrested by armed police with the assistance of a police helicopter.

He remains in police custody this morning being quizzed over a shooting in the Burncross Road area of Chapeltown at 11pm last Friday.

Five men and one woman previously arrested over the incident have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Nobody has come forward to report being injured in the shooting, but South Yorkshire Police said there was evidence that shots had been fired.
