Armed police on alert after report of a man with a gun in Sheffield
Armed officers and the police helicopter were deployed to a Sheffield suburb after a report of a man with a gun on a street.
Officers were sent out after a concerned member of the public reported seeing somebody with a possible gun in Handsworth Road, Handsworth, on Saturday afternoon.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at around 4pm on Saturday following a third party report that someone had been seen with a possible firearm in Handsworth Road.
"Officers were sent to the scene and no evidence of a firearm was present.
"Nobody was injured and no witnesses were able to confirm that a firearm had been seen."
