With the recent warm weather getting us all in the mood for a drink in the sunshine, here’s our guide to Sheffield's seven best pub beer gardens - in no particular order.

1. THE OLD CROWN INN, LONDON ROAD

Not too far from Bramall Lane, this lively boozer on London Road was nominated by regular Gavin Lambert. There's always live music to enjoy in one of the city's oldest pubs - as well as a great range of cask ales. Ideal for a matchday pint.

2. HOP HIDEOUT, ABBEYDALE ROAD

Quirky and compact are the best words to describe this corner watering hole which prides itself on serving specialist beers deep from the heart of the city's Antiques Quarter. There's regular tastings and a chance to meet the brewers too. Picked by John Charles

3. THE SHEFFIELD TAP, SHEAF STREET

Hands up if you've never had a pint in here? Chances are you will have, while waiting for a train. Situated inside the railway station, the beer garden might not be the quietest, overlooking Sheaf Street as it does, but it is always busy in summer.

The Riverside is slap bang in the middle of the Kelham Island real ale circuit - and when the sun shines, its standing room only in the spacious beer garden nestled alongside the River Don. A real contender for a ale lover's paradise.

5. THE FORUM, DEVONSHIRE STREET

Eclectic and lively - and a place to enjoy an al fresco pint too. Situated right in the heart of the city, The Forum is another watering hole where there's barely room to move when the sun shines on the Steel City thanks to its views across the Green.

6. NORFOLK ARMS, RINGINGLOW

Situated on the edge of the Peak District, this pub in Ringinglow offers superb views of the surrounding hills and is popular with walkers looking for real ale, real pub grub and a chance to unwind.

7. THE BANNER CROSS, ECCLESALL ROAD

Having recently undergone a massive refurbishment, The Banner Cross on bustling and busy Ecclesall Road is one for the sports enthusiasts. There's always live football on and expect it to be popular haunt during Euro 2016.
