A NEW exhibition will feature ancient artefacts found by archaeologists from Derbyshire and those who influenced them.

The star attraction will be a small granite pyramid, which was brought to the UK by an Egyptologist influenced by Derbyshire scholar William Gell.

The exhibition at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery from September 8, will also feature a model canoe from North America and a collection of Peruvian human figures made from gold and silver.

Andrew Lewer, Derbyshire Council leader, said: “The items offer a fascinating glimpse into the world of Derbyshire’s explorers.”
