£70k cash boost for top South Yorkshire charities

More than 40 South Yorkshire charities have benefited from donations totalling more than £70, 000 from the Company of Cutlers.

The company, which represents the interests of manufacturing and innovation firms from across the region, handed over donation gifts to charities ranging from the well-known Archer Project and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice Appeal to the Sheffield Family Holiday Fund and Amy’s House.

They were handed out during two special presentation mornings at Cutlers’ Hall on Friday, June 24, and Monday, June 27.

Master Cutler Craig McKay praised all of the recipients for their hard work and dedication in the community.

He added: “It is a great pleasure to be able to distribute these grants.

“We make a point of selecting smaller charities where our donations will have greatest effect.”

The money comes from a variety of sources.

One is the Company of Cutlers Charitable Trust, which was formed in 2008 from the Jane Fisher Gift, the Stuart Goodwin Charity and the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire Welfare Trust.

Another is the Sir John Osborn Charitable Fund which was founded by Sir John whilst he was an MP and a member of the Company of Cutlers.

The company has made hundreds of charitable donations for a number of years.

Bids for between £500 and £10,000 are accepted.

Bids including a detailed requirement and an amount requested should be with the CCCT by the beginning of May each year.
