Legendary former Sheffield United boss Dave Bassett could be set for a sensational return to the city, as an advisor at rivals Wednesday.

It is understood that Bassett, affectionately known as ‘Harry’ throughout his career, has been approached by Hillsborough officials with a view towards taking up a football advisory role on the club’s board.

Following the relinquishing of the football committee at Sheffield Wednesday it is believed that a Director of Football-type position is being opened up to help Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal and Bassett has been sounded out for the post.
