PLANS have been approved to allow an off licence to sell booze until 6am each morning despite opposition from residents in nearby flats.

Sheffield Council’s licensing board gave permission for the plans by West Street Off Licence.

A council spokesman said: “The application went through with the condition that the named licence holder remains on the premises whenever the off licence is open.”

Some residents of new apartments which have been built around West Street in recent years despite the area’s prolific number of late-night drinking venues, objected to the off licence plans due to potential for noise and anti-social behaviour.
