Apprentices get to grips with UK plumbing

THESE five French apprentice plumbers said "bonjour" to Barnsley as they embarked on a three-week work placement in the borough.

Business & Education South Yorkshire organised the visit to give the young apprentices the chance to practise the technical skills used in plumbing in the UK. The teenagers are staying with local families and working with Berneslai Homes and Inspace for two weeks and a further week of technical and language training.

Berneslai Homes chief executive Helen Correy said: “We are extremely pleased that we have been given the opportunity to host young people from another country and hope that we learn skills from one another.”

As part of their leisure time the trainee plumbers will see the sights of York, the Peak District and the North Yorkshire Moors.
