Appeal for dog blood donors

Have your say

DOG owners in Sheffield are being urged to help boost canine blood supplies in the run up to Christmas.

Today, a blood collection session will be held by Pet Blood Bank, at the Vets4Pets practice in Millhouses.

In order to give blood, dogs must be fit, of good temperament, be aged between one and eight years old, weigh more than 25 kilos and have not travelled outside the UK.

They must also be up to date with all vaccinations.

Pet Blood Bank supplies canine blood to practices across the UK, often for surgery.

Katrina Wilkinson, head of operations for Pet Blood Bank UK, said: “Every unit of blood Pet Blood Bank UK collects can help save the lives of up to four dogs, so we hope that dog owners come forward.”
