Appeal to buy Sheffield graffiti artist a memorial bench

The body of Oliver Crowther, aged 18, was found inside Arundel Joinery, Sidney Street, city centre, when staff arrived at work to open up.

In the wake of the tragedy a fundraising campaign has been launched to buy a memorial bench for Oliver.

The appeal has already raised more than £500.

Danielle Hancock, who organised the appeal, posted: “Trying to raise money to get a memorial bench in memory of Olly.

“Thinking of the top of Meersbrook Park as its close to where he lived and the view is amazing. Every little helps because the benches are really expensive.”

Oliver, of Northcote Avenue, Meersbrook, was found underneath a broken skylight by workers on Saturday, May 14.

An inquest into the death has been opened and adjourned.

A statement read out at the hearing said: “Employees opening up at Arundel Joinery discovered him collapsed on the floor beneath a broken skylight.

“Paramedics were called but he was pronounced dead.”

Hundreds of tributes hwere paid to the former High Storrs School pupil on social media in the wake of tragedy.

Graffiti tributes have sprung-up around Sidney Street to ‘Olta’ – understood to be Oliver’s tag.

But friends of Oliver’s family urged the graffiti community not to tag his name near to his family home out of respect.
