But his talk at Sheffield City Hall was full of little surprises, from his opening comments on commando daggers made in Sheffield, to how Middleton used a '˜bubble' technique to cope with the horrors of  war  in the special forces. He proved to be just as much of a natural talker as a natural adrenaline seeker '“ the evening lasted three hours without feeling dragged out. It was cleverly interspersed with footage from his various TV shows and followed by a warm Q&A with the audience. The words that hit home the most were about how Middleton insists a positive mindset to '˜attack' challenges, while acknowledging situations themselves can be negative. It summed up his success, while inspiring others.
