Annual Rotherham Valley Country Park race set to help Neurocare

A Sheffield charity hopes its annual 10k race will see runners break the £100,000 mark this weekend.

Neurocare’s Head Start race, sponsored by business turnaround and insolvency specialist Wilson Field since 2010, is to be held at Rother Valley Country Park on Sunday.

This year around 500 runners are to take part, with organisers hoping the amount they raise will take the total raised since the first race to £100,000.

Sophie Thomas, fundraiser at Neurocare, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to build the Head Start race over a six year period and can confirm that with Wilson Field’s support, we will now be able to put £100,000 towards Neurocare causes, thanks to the efforts of the runners and their supporters.

“Our sponsorship from Wilson Field means that we do not need to allocate any donations towards the organisation of the race, so every penny of the funds raised can go directly towards initiatives such as neurosurgical training, life saving medical equipment and research projects to help surgeons’ understanding of neurological conditions which affect millions of people across the UK.”
