Ann Cassidy: Man due in court in Sheffield over crash that killed 'beautiful and 'loving' great granny

A 24-year-old man is set to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today, charged in relation to a crash that caused the death of a pedstrian described as a ‘beautiful’ and ‘loving’ great granny.

Court documents show that Harrison Buckley, of Foljambe Drive, Dalton, Rotherham, is set to make his first court appearance, charged with offences including causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving; causing death by driving a vehicle - driver unlicensed/uninsured and committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

The charges relate to a fatal crash at the junction between Park Lane and Park Close in Rotherham on May 27, 2021, which led to the death of 81-year-old pedestrian, Ann Cassidy.

A blue Seat Atica collided with Ann at about 5pm, and she died from her injuries the following day.

Following her death, Ann’s family said: “Words cannot express how devastated we are with the loss of a beautiful, loving caring, wife, mum, grandma and great granny.

“We're not sure how we'll carry on, our lives will never be the same again. RIP our beautiful lady.”
