Anger after fly-tippers dump waste at Peak District beauty spot
The waste was strewn across a path by Redmires Reservoirs over the Easter weekend.
The popular spot was busy all weekend, and visitors were forced to pick their way through paint tins, clothes and all sorts of household rubbish.

Hide AdSheffield Council’s fly-tipping team cleared the rubbish yesterday. But there were strong words for those who dumped it.
Peak District National Park ranger manager Jenny Waller said: “Litter and fly-tipping are ongoing problems in the national park – the antisocial actions of a few thoughtless individuals spoils the environment for everyone else and can harm wildlife.
“The recent incident at Redmires Reservoir shows the mess some people cause by deliberately dropping litter – it then has to be cleared up by someone, usually rangers working together with the local council or the landowner.
“It’s frustrating to spend our time clearing up other people’s mess when we could be doing conservation work. If everyone takes their litter home and disposes of their rubbish responsibly they will be helping protect the Peak District National Park’s wildlife and beauty.”

Hide AdCity councillor Andrew Sangar, who represents the Fulwood ward under which the reservoirs fall, said: “I am horrified by this fly-tipping.
“The area around Redmires Reservoirs is part of the magnificent countryside surrounding Sheffield. We all have a responsibility to keep it tidy and free from litter. I am horrified that anyone would fly tip there. I have contacted the city council and asked for its quick removal.”
A spokesperson for Sheffield Streets Ahead added: “Fly-tipping is illegal for a reason. It is an inconsiderate act that damages communities and the environment and we’d like to thank the members of the public who brought this to our attention.
“Our teams will be onsite today to clear this but we would ask everyone to be vigilant for this kind of activity and report anything that could help catch the people responsible.”

Hide AdRunner Tony Carroll, a regular visitor to the reservoirs, said: “It’s shocking that a fantastic run in our beautiful Peak District became a reminder of louts who only see a dumping ground.”
