Youngsters at a Rotherham hospice were given a bumper Christmas after global retail giant Amazon made a donation of £5,000 of gifts.

Children at Bluebell Wood Hospice, North Anston, received Christmas books, DVDs and portable DVD players.

Team members from Amazon’s Doncaster fulfilment centre made the delivery to the hospice, which supports terminally ill children.

The donation follows recent deliveries of Kindle e-readers to Balby Central Primary School and Hexthorpe Primary School.

Paul Ashraf, Amazon Doncaster site leader, said: “It was great to visit the hospice and see the important work that is done there.

“We look forward to contributing to many other fantastic organisations around Doncaster in 2015.”

laire Rintoul, Chief Executive of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We care and support children with a shortened life expectancy and their families, both in their own homes and at our hospice.

“We are really grateful and thankful to Amazon for donating such a range of items, all of which will make a huge positive difference.”
