An allotment project in Sheffield to give people gardening skills has been given a cash boost.
HOPE Community Allotment Project, on Windmill Lane in Firth Park, has been awarded £1,400 from The Tesco Charity Trust.
Phil Webster, from the scheme, said: “Our project is run entirely by volunteers who provide a valuable service running our regular gardening sessions for over 30 local people, many of whom have learning difficulties or mental health problems.
“The grant will enable us to buy essential equipment to keep our project going and to introduce some new developments so that we can reach out to more people and grow even more organic fruit and vegetables next year.”
The cheque will be presented at the allotment at 11.30am on Saturday.
