I would like to offer my most sincere congratulations to those Sheffield companies who have done our city proud in winning this year’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise (as covered in your newspaper on April 21).
President Engineering Group, Pricecheck Toiletries and Ancon have all been deemed worthy of the accolade, which is this country’s most prestigious award for business success.
Forward-thinking companies such as these are vital to the continued growth and success of our city.
They create jobs for future generations and bring trade into Sheffield, helping us to thrive and be the best we can.
I would like to congratulate them on winning this highly prestigious award and wish them all the best for a bright future.
These awards are also particularly significant in the wake of the Royal Maundy visit to Sheffield earlier this month.
I was greatly honoured to welcome the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to the Town Hall, and it was magnificent to see thousands of people lining the streets, waving flags and taking part in what was a very special day.
All those who turned out on the day and gave a fantastic Sheffield welcome showcased our city in its best light.
My thanks to them all.
Coun Peter Rippon
The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Sheffield
