All change for grit runs

CHANGES to winter gritting runs are being proposed in Derbyshire to keep more routes open during freezing weather.

Last winter, some roads in the Peak District and north Derbyshire were impassable due to snow and ice.

Proposals to be considered for approval at a meeting of the council’s cabinet on Tuesday involve splitting the gritting network into categories according to priority.

The council could also offer an annual payment of £200 to external contractors to help.
