AIR pollution levels in Chesterfield are within the safe limits set by the EU, a report has found.
The council study used air quality data from 38 monitoring sites, as well as weather and traffic information.
A specific assessment of pollution at Whittington Hill and Compton Street, by the old Spireites stadium, was also included in the report.
Data from 2009 suggested the locations could breach the national limits.
The monitoring sites collect information on substances such as nitrogen dioxide, which can increase in areas of slow or dense traffic.
An earlier study in 2007 concluded an air quality management area was needed along the borough’s main roads, but this plan has now been scrapped following the new findings.
