Agencies take to streets to offer help to Sheffield's homeless

Over a two day period this week, 20 men and women on the streets were offered help and support.

CRIME: Men with knife make threats on doorstep of house in SheffieldA number of agencies were involved in the initiative, including South Yorkshire Police, the Cathedral Archer Project, Sheffield Council and Addaction Sheffield.

POLICE: Gunman on the run after shooting man and woman in SheffieldA South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Officers, along with our partners, have been speaking and engaging with people we have found on the streets.

"We have spoken to over 20 individuals, over two days, about what support is on offer and how as a collective partnership we can help.

"Those that have been spoken to have been offered help and support ranging from housing, benefits, access to bathing and showering facilities and clean clothes.

"Most importantly they have been offered a one-to-one support appointment at Addaction Sheffield to have their support needs assessed."

"I would like to thank all those that have been out over the last couple of days, promoting partnership working and making a difference."
