Advice aims to cut casualties

ROAD safety advice is being offered to families around South Yorkshire to cut the toll of young casualties.

Last year, there were two children killed and 72 seriously injured in the county.

To coincide with Child Safety Week, South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership is urging parents to think about safety of their children when using the roads, either as pedestrians, cyclists or passengers in vehicles.

Advice and information will be available all next week from Monday to Friday by calling into Sheffield Council’s Howden House offices in the city centre.

A roadshow will also visit Tesco, Abbeydale Road, on Thursday, June 21, and Asda stores at Old Mill Lane, Barnsley, and Bawtry Road, Doncaster, both on Friday, June 22.

Police, fire and rescue and council officials will be at all the events offering advice.
