‘Journeyman’ is expected to hit our screens next year, but fans got a glimpse of what’s in store as a scene was filmed in the Frenchgate Shopping Centre this afternoon.

The scene featured Paddy as boxer Matty Burton, who was being weighed before a middleweight championship fight the next day. His rival, a character called Andre Bryte, was also weighed.

Extras formed the crowd of boxing fanatics, who were asked to boo when Andre Bryte appeared and cheer when Matty Burton appeared. Excited locals gathered around them outside of set boundaries.

Karen Staniforth, marketing manager at Frenchgate Shopping Centre, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome actor and director Paddy Considine and his film production team to the Frenchgate.

“It’s a real coup for Frenchgate and Doncaster for the movie to be filmed here. Our shopping centre was chosen because it was bright, clean and the perfect location for the film team so we’re thrilled.

“It drew a crowd, with our shoppers interested in watching the actors and crew – and has also given the public a chance to be caught on camera, which is not something that happens every day!

“We can’t wait to see the finished film and will be getting our cinema tickets when Journeyman comes out next year.”
