Rotherham Council is working with residents in Eastwood on an action plan aimed at developing a 'sustainable approach' to issues affecting the community.

Karen Hanson, Rotherham Council's Assistant Director for Community Safety and Street Scene, said the action plan was being developed with residents and partners.

She added: “We are working with residents to identify their concerns and develop long-lasting solutions.

"We have made a start with the introduction of selective licensing to ensure landlords take accountability for their properties, whilst new powers around fixed penalty notices for flytipping would allow the council to issue fines without having to go through a lengthy prosecution route.

"We also have a full-time street cleansing operative within the village, and a new 'Love My Street' co-ordinator in post.

"Although this is just the beginning of the process, the council and South Yorkshire Police have a real commitment to Eastwood and to improving the quality of life for its residents so our focus is working with those in Eastwood to improve it.”
