A Sheffield groom-to-be has been left furious with continued delays after the engagement ring he ordered failed to turn up when requested.

Dom Bocchino, aged 37, of Rother Wood Way, Killamarsh, hit out at Goldsmiths jewellers for ruining his plans to propose to his girlfriend Heather, 35.

The lengthy delays meant Dom had to cancel a special surprise engagement party he had organised with family.

Dom who paid £2,300 for the ring, picked out the perfect one for his future wife only to be beset by lengthy problems.

The product was ordered with modifications in October, ready for collection by December.

But the ring initially came back in January without a hall mark and Goldsmiths refused to release it and promised to have it ready by February.

And then the couple were hit with even more problems.

The ring came back with a ‘huge natural defect’ in the stone and the couple were given a similar ring on loan so Dom could finally propose.

Dom said Goldsmiths told them it would be another wait of 10-12 weeks and made a request for the couple to pay more money for an ‘upgraded stone’ so the chances of a defect would be smaller.

He said the stone was ‘not the usual standard’ he had seen before.

Dom, who has used Goldsmiths before without problems, said he would think twice about using them again in future.

“We have been let down time and time again – this should really be at our happiest time planning the wedding for next year.

“I’ve had to give the ring back and I’m now hoping for a full refund.

“Me and Heather are absolutely devastated.

“I really don’t want this to happen to any other couples – it’s been a constant non-stop headache from start to finish for us.”

Action Desk contacted Goldsmiths to comment on the story but they did not respond to multiple requests
