Abigail Seaton, aged 13, is a member of the 142nd Frecheville Guides and is one of only 100 young people across the UK to be made a #iwill Ambassador for national charity Step Up to Serve.

The Birley Community College pupil received the honour thanks to her work in the community, which includes helping to run local charity events and volunteering at her local Rainbow group.

Now Abigail is appealing to others to join her in making a positive difference in their communities in 2016, through volunteering, campaigning and fundraising.

Abigail, of Frecheville, said: “I am passionate about getting young people involved in social and community action.

“I would encourage other young people to take positive action in the community in 2016; as long as you believe and can find the time – anything is possible!”

#iwill is a national campaign - which Girlguiding is part of - aiming to make social action a part of life for as many 10 to 20 year-olds as possible by the year 2020.
