A DONCASTER couple are preparing to meet their own Waterloo – the song, that is.
John Reilly and Lisa Houlder, both members of a Doncaster-based ABBA tribute act, have decided to take a chance on love when they marry later this year.
The couple are following in the real-life footsteps of Benny and Frida, the couple they imitate during the ABBA Revival stage show which has played all across the borough as well as further afield and abroad.
John, aged 37, and Lisa, 29, started off as just good friends when the group formed but love has blossomed over the years.
Lisa said their family and friends were not surprised by the planned union.
“I think they knew we’d end up together before even we did,” she said.
For one night only it will mean a respite from singing the Swedish supergroup’s hits.
The couple have chosen not to have an ABBA theme for their nuptials, and instead have booked Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley tribute acts for their wedding reception party.
“We decided to have a break from ABBA for the wedding,” laughed Lisa.
