CONSTRUCTION firm Ringway has won a £14 million contract to deliver long-awaited improvements to the A57 in South Yorkshire.
The highway builders, based in Sussex, will carry out the works between J31 of the M1 and the Todwick crossroads.
The firm’s divisional director Kevin Graham said: “Our successful bid is fantastic news and comes after many years of working within Rotherham.
“It will give us the opportunity to use our local workforce and knowledge to really improve this vital part of the South Yorkshire road network.”
The works, on behalf of Rotherham Council, are expected to begin in August .
The road has long been considered one of the region’s worst traffic accident blackspots.
It is scheduled to open in December 2013.
