Thousands of people got to meet a South Yorkshire wildlife park’s new addition as record numbers flocked there over the Easter weekend.
Around 10,500 people visited Doncaster’s Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Branton on Easter Monday – when baby Bactrian camel Hadara made her public debut.
Hadara, whose name means adorned with beauty, joined the park hot on the heels of Pixel, the second polar bear.
YWP Director John Minion said: “It was our busiest day ever. We have never had over 10,000 on a normal day before.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for all their support.”
Hadara was born to first-time mum Elizabeth on March 22.
The newborn had a difficult first week and had to have a helping hand from rangers because she was struggling to stand.
Staff provided extra bottle feeds and last weekend Hadara was able to walk next to her proud mother.
