two thirds of people in South Yorkshire have no idea how much water they use, according to a new poll.

Commissioned by bathroom manufacturer Pegler Yorkshire, based in Doncaster, it showed a third of people leave the tap running when cleaning their teeth, a fifth flush the toilet to get rid of a tissue, a fifth top up the bath during a long soak and more than a quarter of those surveyed admitted not trying to cut water use.

Now manufacturers have united to create the Water Label – an ndependent guide on bathroom products, similar to the energy ratings used on washing machines and dishwashers. It received government approval in December 2011.
