A fifth will not tip taxi drivers

Have your say

Nearly a fifth of thrifty Sheffield residents have said they would not tip taxi drivers.

More than half of the UK population never tips more than £1, no matter what the fare, a taxi survey has found.

Brighton is the most generous with 94 per cent of customers always tipping their drivers.

In Sheffield, that figure was 83 per cent and in London it was 81 per cent.

The worst culprits were Birmingham residents, with 34 per cent never leaving a tip.

Surprisingly, workers in full-time employment tip less than those in part-time work or the unemployed.

The survey of 2,000 was commissioned by Click A Taxi, an app allowing people to book a taxi anywhere in the UK.
