Baby Bailey, who is only 12 weeks old, visited his great-great-grandmother for the first time at the care home on Ashgate Road, Chesterfield, along with his mother and Jessie’s great granddaughter, Megan Hardy.

Jessie, who celebrates her 100th birthday in December, was born in Yorkly, Gloucestershire and is no stranger to large families, being the fourth child in a family of nine.

As a young lady she made the move across Gloucestershire to Cheltenham and went on to manage a tobacconist kiosk in a wholesalers.

In 2006 Jessie moved to Derbyshire and eight years later at the age of 97 moved into Springbank House, a care home part of the Hillcare Group.

Karen Busby, Springbank House home manager said: “It really is heart-warming to see five generations of one family all together as one in the same room.

“Seeing Jessie meet baby Bailey for the first time was really quite touching and not something many of us experience in our lifetime.”
