80's series is revisited in brand new comedy play

Writer Eric Chappell will take Sheffield audiences back to Marbella this month with his new comedy, based on his hit 80's TV series, '˜Duty Free.'

Fast-paced comedy,  '˜Last of the Duty Free,' will reunite the two couples from the series in this farcical play, providing the next instalment of the holidaymaker's antics.

The show will open at the Sheffield Library Theatre on November 21, and run until November 24.

Regularly attracting 12 million viewers, the TV comedy starred popular South Yorkshire actor, Keith Barron. Born in Mexborough, he began his career at the Sheffield Playhouse before finding fame '˜The Odd Man' in the 1960s. Barron was a regular face on British television for decades, however his role of David Pearce in '˜Duty Free' is often the most remembered and loved by his fans.

Sadly, Keith Barron passed away last year, prompting the Denys Edwards Players to stage '˜Last of the Duty Free' in his home county as a fitting tribute.

Richard Bevan in the lively role of David, will be joined onstage in Sheffield by a sterling cast of familiar faces from the city's theatre scene. This is a theatrical revival not to be missed!
