YOUNG people in Barnsley will be rewarded with Olympic tickets for achievement in their communities.
The council has secured 68 tickets - for wrestling, hockey, boxing, judo and basketball events - to distribute.
Oliver Coppard, the council officer in charge of the scheme, said ticket distribution would ‘recognise and reward’ youngsters’ efforts.
He said: “Some of the tickets will be allocated through a ballot using ‘praise postcards’ that were given to schools and community groups earlier this year.
“Praise postcards recognise aspiration and achievement among children and students who, for example, do a particularly good piece of work, volunteering or perform well at sport.”
