2002: Moment of destiny for Sheffield's Clinton Woods
Clinton Woods went six rounds with the pound-for-pound best boxer on the planet, on this day, 16 years ago.
He went toe-to-toe with Roy Jones Junior at the Rose Garden, Portland, USA.
Jones kept his six light heavyweight titles away from the Sheffielder's grasp.
But Woods refused to be denied over the next two and a half years, eventually landing the IBF title in March 2005, beating Rico Hoye at the Magna Centre, Rotherham.
