People shared in the delight and magic of lanterns as the evening drew in

Hundreds of people shared in the magic of animals at a lantern festival in Sheffield.

Parkwood Springs lantern festival featured snails, mushrooms, foxes, a heron, goldfish, daffodil, goldfinch and more in a celebration of the natural world called 'Together for Nature'.

It came after weeks of lantern making in Pitsmoor schools, community centres and homes. Workshops were led by community artists Patrick Amber and Jo Veal.

Jo said: “The event attracted people from the local community and beyond to share in the delight and magic of lanterns as the evenings draw in.

“Lantern making uses willow to create a frame which is filled with fairy lights and covered in tissue paper to create amazing magical worlds.”

The festival has been running since 2015.
