Tim Butler, chief executive of BSRE said: “We invest in purpose-built student accommodation across cities in the UK.

Sheffield stands out because of its flourishing student population and the strength of its two world-leading universities.

“We are looking forward to growing our presence in the city and believe there will be a strong demand for our new high-quality property, which we will develop and then operate. We’re excited about this opportunity to revive the former Footprint Tools site, which is in need of regeneration and is no longer utilised for its original manufacturing purposes.

“Our proposals will not only provide much-needed new accommodation, but will contribute to the wider rejuvenation of this part of the city by providing attractive public spaces, new amenities and improved pedestrian routes in and around the site.”
