PARENTS could receive help to support their children’s reading and writing skills.

Derbyshire Council is hoping to approve £100,000 for the initiative, to give parents help in supporting the early development of language and literacy skills in their children.

Coun Andrew Lewer, council leader, said: “Language and literacy skills are critical to life chances and I would be keen for everyone to get behind this initiative to help parents better understand how to support their children’s development.”
