Nearly 80% of over-80s vaccinated in South Yorkshire: How it compares to rest of the country

Nearly four in five people aged over 80 across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw have been vaccinated against Covid, latest figures show.

A total of 59,608 over-80s in the region have been given their first dose of vaccine, which is 78.6 per cent of people in that age group.

Of those, 7,242, or 9.6 per cent, have also had their second dose.

In total, 169,908 doses of vaccine have been administered in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, the latest statistics published by NHS England on Thursday, January 28, and covering the period up to January 24, show.

The percentage of over-80s vaccinated in the region is slightly below the national average of 79.7 per cent.

Gloucestershire had the highest percentage, at 91.1, while the Our Healthier South East London partnership had the lowest percentage, at 60.4.

As of January 24, a total of 6,232,584 doses had been administered across England.

National figures covering the period up to January 27 show 6,918,853 doses had been administered.
