Picturesque gastro pub on the edge of the Peak District: Perfect for Sheffield diners
The Bradfield Plough sits in a picturesque village just over 10 miles from the heart of the city, but it’s another world.
For those escaping Sheffield’s hustle and bustle and looking for a day out with great food, drink, and atmosphere, The Bradfield Plough oozes charm and character. For locals, it’s a second venture from the family business behind the café and bistro in the village, The Schoolrooms and Assembly, and owners are aiming for a similar vibe of top quality service and food, with a real welcoming feel.
Under new ownership since April, there’s been a menu makeover, a gradual refurbishment of all rooms and a whole new series of events. Management are careful to keep the ongoing renovatoin work away from customers, so you can enjoy all the brand new spaces in peace while the transformation continues.
About The Bradfield Plough
You’ll get a friendly welcome from manager and host Alice Hague, who looks after all areas of this family friendly venue … take a seat next to an inglenook fire, near rustic open brickwork, out in the beautiful garden area or the refurbished bar – you’ll find your favourite spot.
Gastro delights
The menu truly has something for everyone; from firm favourites like Jack Daniels glazed chicken wings or garlic mushrooms to fat chips with pancetta and cheddar, or the ‘posh’ onion rings, even just the starters will get your mouth watering. Move on to mains and there’s hunters chicken, steak pie, burgers, lasagne with a twist, Bradfield Brewery beer battered haddock and tikka masala. Round off your meal with your pick from the dessert menu and specials.
Kids options are also available.
Looking for a lighter bite? Paninis, soups and sandwiches will do the trick – or who doesn’t love a chip butty, gastro pub style. It’s a sure-fire winner.
Events
Talking of winners, The Bradfield Plough will be streaming the Euros throughout the tournament (dare we dream?), while for those wanting a quieter spot away from the bustling bar, the refurbished barn will allow you to dine or drink in peace.
Join in the quiz night every Tuesday, with cash and alcohol prizes to be won, and watch out for the party night’s coming soon – these are going to be epic! There are also plans for live music nights.
Manager Alice HagueWe are delighted to be carefully managing a whole new look and future for this already popular venue (it previously was simply known as the Plough). Whether you are a regular or newcomer, come as a stranger, leave as a friend, and be sure of a great visit, every time. And if you want to take advantage of our amazing location and are planning a walk around the village or into the Peak District, your dog is more than welcome in the bar.
Reviewers definitely agree, and have been praising the new Bradfield Plough since the April takeover.
One wrote on Tripadvisor last month: “Great evening at The Bradfield Plough. Carvery was perfect, tender beef complimented by traditional trimmings cooked to perfection. The staff are all very polite and nothing was too much trouble.”
Another added: “Just got back from the Bradfield Plough. Alice and her team made myself and my two children very welcome, the food was outstanding and the pub itself was immaculately clean.”
