Men released without charge after double shooting in Sheffield

Gunmen who opened fire in a house in Sheffield – injuring two men inside - are still on the loose one year on.

A police probe was launched after two men, aged 27 and 34, were shot in a house on Shirland Place, Darnall, on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

At the time, South Yorkshire Police said it was believed that a group of men had burst into the property and opened fire at two men known to them.

It came seven weeks after a 28-year-old man was shot on nearby Staniforth Road.

He was shot in his upper body during a confrontation with a number of people who pulled up alongside him in two cars as he walked through Darnall, on January 24.

Providing an update on the Shirland Place shooting, South Yorkshire Police said: “Those arrested at the time have been released from the investigation with no further action.”

It is understood that detectives faced a lack of co-operation during their enquiries.
