Man remains in hospital in critical condition after stabbing in Sheffield

A man remains in hospital in a critical condition today after he was attacked outside a mosque in Sheffield.

The 35-year-old was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries after he was knifed outside the Markazi Jamia Mosque on Industry Road, Darnall, at 3.30pm on Saturday, January 30.

He ran into the mosque seeking help and was given emergency first aid until paramedics arrived at the scene.

A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was later released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The offender is believed to have driven to the scene of the attack in a black Nissan Qashqai.

Afterwards the vehicle was driven to Whitby Road, close to Fisher Lane, Darnall, where attempts were made to torch it.

Anyone with information about the incident should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 606 of January 30.
