'Light at the end of the tunnel' for Sheffield Tigers

Former rider Stead, who won two league titles with his hometown club, has revealed how discussions continue behind the scenes regarding revised team plans following the retirement of popular Aussie Todd Kurtz and the inevitable absence of Nicki Pedersen due to Polish League restrictions.

He’s vowed the club will do everything to keep the initial buzz that was felt when the club announced its return to top racing.

“We may have had to wait a lot longer than we anticipated and first expected and one or two things will be different for one reason or another,” Stead said.

“But we’re all still thoroughly looking forward to this new era for the club and we’d love to make it a year to remember for all of the right reasons.

“There appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel and fingers crossed we can get some speedway back to Owlerton as soon as it’s safe to do so.

“Everyone was looking forward to 2020 and rightly so – but let’s not lose the hype and support it by turning up in droves when it is accessible again.

“We’ve got a few things lined up behind the scenes but what I can say is that we will be putting out the most competitive team that we possibly can with everything taken into consideration.“We owe it to British Speedway and we certainly owe it to the supporters and people connected with Sheffield Speedway as well.”
