People in Sheffield may have been looking forward to basking in the sun on a foreign holiday this year, and instead find themselves stuck at home during lockdown.

But one ray of sunshine for residents is that the city will be hotter than Ibiza one day this week.

And with families now free to more fully enjoy Sheffield’s open spaces, people will be able to bask on the grass . . . if not the beach . . . and pretend they are enjoying the Mediterranean holidays they had dreamed about.

According to the latest weather reports, Sheffield will reach 27 degrees celsius on Wednesday, May 20, while Ibiza can only manage a miserable 23 degrees on the same day.

Unfortunately, the city can’t manage to compete overall with the island, located off the eastern coast of Spain, which will maintain temperatures between 22 and 25 degrees, while Sheffield will drop to 16 degrees by the weekend.
