Many of us will be desperate for a holiday or even just a short break away from our homes when the curtain finally comes down on the lockdown period. Below is a list of some beautiful places to visit without having to travel too far.
1. Scarborough is a historic resort town on England’s North Sea coast. It has 2 bays with sandy beaches that are split by a headland bearing the imposing 12th-century Scarborough Castle.

2. Cleethorpes is a seaside resort on the estuary of the Humber in North East Lincolnshire. It has been permanently occupied since the 6th century, with fishing as its original industry, then developing into a picturesque resort in the 19th century.

3. Take a trip to the beautiful Peak District and visit the heights of Abraham. The hilltop can be reached by cable car and offers cabin tours, walking trails, fossil exhibitions and a cosy cafe.

4. Whitby Abbey was a 7th-century Christian monastery that later became a Benedictine abbey. The abbey church was situated overlooking the North Sea on the East Cliff above Whitby in North Yorkshire.
