Here are just some of the roles being advertised by Opportunity Sheffield, which was set up by Sheffield Council to help people across the city into employment and training.

Assistant cook – £9.50-£10.50 an hour: The vegan kitchen Make No Bones is seeking an assistant cook to join its team in S3

Parcel sorters – £8.72-£10.00 an hour: GI Group is seeking workers for its warehouse in S9, with applicants expected to have some previous experience and to work between 16 and 40 hours a week

Catering assistant – £8.21 an hour: This role is available in S25, where the successful applicant will be expected to cater for specialist diets and religious preferences

Sales assistant – £8.72 an hour: Chadha's Premier convenience store is recruiting a new member to its team in S2, with applicants required to live locally or have their own transport

STEPS Rehabilitation – £15,500-£17,000 annual salary: This rehabilitation centre is seeking to ‘urgently’ recruit people for several roles, including a caretaker and rehabilitation assistant

Support workers – wages not listed: Sheffield Council is seeking to recruit people to work alongside social workerstp help young people, their families and carers

Warehouse worker – £8.50 an hour: Workers are sought to help with unloading, picking, packing and dispatching at the Arconic ‘Insite’ in Sheffield

Care assistant – £8.85-£9.25 an hour: Heeley Bank Care home is seeking workers to support residents and help them ‘lead as full a life as possible’. It is one of several Sheffield care homes currently recruiting

Cleaners – £8.72 an hour: Experienced cleaners who have been DBS checked are required for vulnerable units, nursing homes and hospitals.
