Spandau Ballet set to perform at Doncaster racecourse

Bringing musical gold to Doncaster are New Romantic legends Spandau Ballet when they appear at the town’s racecourse.

The Town Moor venue will play host to the iconic super-group after an afternoon of racing, on Saturday August 15.

The London formed five-piece comprising Tony Hadley, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp, Steve Norman and John Keeble have sold over 25 million records and amassed 23 hit singles across the globe since they formed in the late 1970s. Known as one of Britain’s great iconic bands, they took the world by storm on their comeback tour in 2009 after two decades apart.

Kieron Gallagher, executive director at the racecourse, said: “Spandau Ballet will be one of the highlights of a great summer of racing and music here at Doncaster Racecourse. The action packed afternoon of racing followed by first class musical entertainment will make for a great late summer’s event to be enjoyed with friends, family and colleagues alike.”

The band will take to the stage to perform classic hits from their back catalogue, including UK number one single True and the iconic song Gold, amongst others from their eight UK top ten albums, which include numerous multi-platinum sellers.

Mr Gallagher added: “To have such a huge name from the British music industry playing at Town Moor is a real honour and is very exciting. We are more than just a sporting venue and are delighted to add Spandau Ballet to our list of big name music acts to have graced the stage here.”
